Updates, Music and DÚBH!

Things are quite busy these days. Fall 2015 I introduce my online store to share original compositions. Some of these works are currently being played and I hope to have video and records to share soon. I especially like a new composition for jazz orchestra entitled "Well Now" that I hope to get played in Boston this summer.

At present, my fellow band mate Damien Bracken and I are in the midst of mixing our debut release for DÚBH. You can listen to The American here. We plan to have the full album our in…

One Crazy Summer

Summer took off like a rocket with a number of events and programs for Berklee and is culminating in a few exciting opportunities.

My apologies for the lapse in posts here after launching this new site and blog. This was due to an unexpected interruption, which included a forced holiday and hospital stay. It's enough to say that when you feel aches and pains, check them out. Do not let them continue, for say...5 or 6 years, otherwise you might not have the chance to get them checked out.

Now for the cool…

Here We Go!

The launch of the new is giving me the opportunity to check out a number of excellent new tools supplied by products like  I am excited to dig into these and explore their potential.  Composing these little ditties in a blog is one way I hope to share news that might be of interest to visitors.

For example, there is much afoot musically in 2015. For most of January, I have been on the road in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and in India for Berklee.  Here are a couple of…

Laying the Groundwork in LA for 2013 Summer

If you look hard enough, you might see an ever-so-slight difference in the traffic patterns on the LA freeways during the week of SXSW. For alum and program consultant Tom Griesgraber and I, it really did not make a difference as we crisscrossed the city for meetings and scouting locations in preparation for the new Berklee in Los Angeles summer programs to be held this August. You heard correctly “p-r-o-g-r-a-m-S”.  Two to be specific. In what has become standard practice, we have reached out to some key…

Here Is What $1 Million Looks Like in Puerto Rico

We have closed out another year at Berklee in Puerto Rico. The final concert, held on Sunday, June 3rd showcased the fine talent and hard work of the students and the faculty members from the week-long program. In just over 4-hours, 16 bands performed dozens of pieces of music running the stylistic gamut. From small group jazz and rock to the hair-raising large jazz orchestra and choirs, the show was a fantastic success. Huge thanks goes out to Carolyn Wilkins, Darcel Wilson, Greg Badolato, Eguie…

Following the Path Through Berklee in Puerto Rico

Carlos plays cuatro. He’s 12-years old. He just got back from Cuba, where he was playing at a conference for cuatro players. Edgardo plays soprano. He’s been playing for a year. He is 15-years old.

It is not uncommon to see such young musicians in Puerto Rico. Music starts early here and runs deep. But, what is intriguing for me is how easily they wish to share their music – without hesitation. These young musicians stopped but to hang with assistant vice president for international programs Greg Badolato…
