What He Said

Rock Enroll Bending Dogma and Via Zammata'

Late summer is a time of good energy. It is the start of the new year in the education field in the U.S. It can feel like hitting the [RESET] button.

This summer I am riding a good wave that kicked up in late spring and seems to not be abating. I am excited about what lies ahead. Musically, there is lots to share too.

2015RockEnrollBerkleeFirst off, my colleagues and I need your support for a special event that will take place on Thursday, September 24 at 7pm at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston. We ask you to join us for the 2015 Rock Enroll scholarship fund raising concert.  This event will feature an excellent cast of musicians from Berklee.  All donations will go to support scholarships for a Rock musician to study at Berklee.  We ask for your gifts and for you to join us for this epic event!

Along with the preparations for this show, I am working to stock my online store with scores and parts from my Jazz Octet library. For many years I have been leading a group called Bending Dogma, which is a three-horn, five-rhythm ensemble performing my original work. I have had the fortune of having some stellar musicians play my music over the years, and now I want to offer these pieces to others to play. Be sure to check out my online store to see what is available. All of these pieces are available in Jazz orchestra versions as well (5, 4, 4, 5).

I welcome your feedback and requests for new works!

Lastly, I am excited to say that I received my copy of Dweezil Zappa's Via Zammata'. This is his first solo project in 10-years and showcases some incredible pieces and ridiculously fun songs. I am fortunate to have made a small contribution to the project on the first track titled Funky 15. You can get your copy today!

I look forward to seeing you on the road. Next stop is Bogotá for the Berklee Latino program, which starts next week.  Also, I will be in the Dominican Republic for a short tour in early November with a performance at the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival with some brilliant musicians -- Jim Odgren and Jim Kelly.

Hope to see you on the road!
